  • JFC Host Girls' Football School Partnerships Competition

    John Ferneley College hosted the Girls' Football School Partnerships Competition earlier this week! Several of our primaries took part and the children showed great enthusiasm and spirit. Well done to everyone involved, including our student referees and game scorers!

  • Harvest Festivals and Bell Ringing Activities!

    Children from across our primaries have enjoyed taking part in recent Harvest Festivals and Bell Ringing activities at their local Churches. They read and sang in front of family and community members, helped contribute towards donations for food banks and some even rang the church bells!

    Thank you to everyone who organised and attended the services, it was wonderful to see so many of you there.

  • Sporting Activities!

    It is fantastic to see the numerous sporting activities that our pupils take part in, in celebration of National Fitness Day recently and throughout the year!

    At Ab Kettleby Primary School, this has already included running, karate club, balance bike sessions and the tennis festival at Melton Mowbray Tennis Club!

  • Roald Dahl Day

    Last week, pupils from across our schools enjoyed all things reading!

    The Grove Primary School celebrated Roald Dahl Day, with the children coming to school dressed as their favourite characters and taking part in lots of creative activities.

    Ab Kettleby Primary School also kick-started their shared reading initiative, which will take place every Friday!

  • Somerby Pupils Remember

    Our pupils from Somerby Primary School paid tribute to local wartime paratroopers at Burrough-on-the Hill, as part of the 80th commemoration.

    The school works collaboratively with Friends of the Tenth to bring the history of the village to life for our pupils.

  • Singing Spectacular!

    Our Singing Spectacular took place on Monday 8th July! Every school from across the Trust was represented, along with Buckminster Primary School, and they performed in spectacular fashion! The pupils enjoyed singing with other schools from across the Trust and sang with such enthusiasm.

  • Art Week at Sherard Primary School

    Pupils from Sherard Primary School enjoyed a week of creative immersion, inspired by Henri Rousseau's painting 'Suprised!'. The children took part in many activities which stimulated their imaginations, from practising their writing skills and showcasing their artwork, to themed lessons and producing music!

  • Community at The Grove Primary

    On Monday 17th June, Mrs Tyler and Mrs Cheeseman, along with some of the Year 5 children, were joined by residents from Amwell Care Home as part of their community pledge. The children and residents enjoyed mindfulness colouring, playing board games and chatting. It was so lovely to see this demonstration of belonging and community spirit.

    Leicester and Leicestershire Careers Hub recently highlighted the efforts of Samm Stanley, KS4 Futures Lead and Business Studies Teacher at John Ferneley College, in preparing her students for the future by partnering with leading employers for an innovative Experiences of the Workplace Project: Unbox Your Future.

    Unbox Your Future provides students with invaluable hands-on experience and insights into various industries, helping them connect classroom learning with real-world applications.

    Engaging with these employers not only equips students with critical skills and knowledge but also fosters meaningful professional relationships that can guide their career paths.
